Join us as we kick off our seventh annual Andersonville Arts & Home Weekend. The event will feature our one-night-only silent auction of artwork to benefit Trumbull and Peirce Elementary Schools AND the Edgewater Community Council’s Youth Arts Program. Food generously donated by Big Jones with wine from In Fine Spirits.

Join the friendly and helpful staff at In Fine Spirits for a craft beer tasting.

Opening night reception for the group show Semeiotic, with music from Identity Crises Incorporated.
7:00-10:00 pm – Cheetah Gym
Local artist Bret Grafton uses his work to transform the aerobics room at Cheetah Gym into a one-night-only gallery.
7:30 pm – The Neo-Futurarium
‘Fear.’ The world of Edgar Allen Poe is unearthed in this literary take on all things terrifying. Travel through the dark corners of the Neo-Futurarium with your own guide, stopping at stations that explore different pieces by Poe. This “thinking man’s haunted house” invokes terror through twisted stories using familiar themes, sensations and situations. General admission tickets $15, students/seniors $10.
11:30 pm – The Neo-Futurarium
Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind.’ 30 plays in 60 minutes performed by The Neo-Futurists. Admission based on a roll of a die.

“Get Cozy!” An interactive seminar in time for autumn and the holiday season discussing principles of space planning, color relationships and art selection to help participants understand and refine their living and work spaces. Presented by Urbanest, Occupi Design and Abryant Gallery.

Indoor screen-printing demonstration by Maria Cicarelli of Kuketa.

Meet designer Katy Klassman at the Dorothy & Milton trunk show and view her handcrafted jewelry from vintage finds .

After a successful outdoor performance in Andersonville this summer, Porchlight Music Theatre returns to the neighborhood to present scenes from their current production of The Fantasticks.
2:00-4:00 pm – Painted Light Photography & Framing Gallery
Silhouette artist Betsy Robinson will be demonstrating her cuttings & taking photos of those interested in ‘capturing time’ with your own silhouette or someone you want to remember.

Porchlight Music Theatre performs an encore of scenes from their current production of The Fantasticks.

Photo Hand-tinting Reworked. Workshop/Demonstration on hand-tinting digital photographs. Both traditional and “free techniques” will be shown. There will be photographs (or bring your own mat surface images) and materials available for those who wish to experiment and participate.
8:00 pm – The Neo-Futurarium

What could be more Andersonville than a traditional fried herring breakfast? With meatballs, potato sausage, and much more catered by Tre Kronor restaurant, this popular event will also feature a performance by Karen Lindblad with the group Borrowed Light. Cost: $20 members, $25 non-members. Reservations are recommended. 773-728-8111.
Noon-1:30 pm – Painted Light Photography & Framing Gallery
“Fresh Ways to Look at Your Family Archive.” Explore framing designer and photo restoration expert Barbara D. Laing’s ideas for more sophisticated integration of your family photographs into your contemporary home. Re-imagine how to “live with” and display family photographs–from framing to albums. Also discussed will be ideas about mixing fine art photography with artwork, and the pros and cons of designing eclectic vs. more uniform styles.

Edgewater Historical Society
Exhibit and sale of original paintings of Edgewater scenes by the Plein Air Painters. For the 4th year look for the Plein Air Painters on Andersonville sidewalks painting neighborhood scenes throughout the weekend. See one you really like? They are available for commissions!
First Free Church
First Free Church’s annual Semeiotic is a juried group show of visual and performing artists across many mediums. Saturday, Noon-8:00 pm; Sunday, Noon-5:00 pm.
The Monkey Gallery
The Monkey Gallery celebrates their 2nd anniversary in Andersonville with live jewelry crafting all weekend long! Watch their artists Ibe, Sandra and the Head Monkey himself Bernie Superfine create their one-of-a-kind rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Saturday 11:00 am-6:00 pm, Sunday 12:00-5:00 pm.
Sir Spa
Sir Spa will be exhibiting 25 works of abstract art by internationally renowed artist Susan Olmetti. Proceeds from all sales during Andersonville Arts & Home Weekend will benefit Chicago House, a non-profit organization that provides housing and supportive services to HIV-affected families and individuals who may also be impacted by poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, and mental illness.
Swedish American Museum
Free admission all weekend! See the Swedish American Museum’s latest exhibit, “Legends in Wool”, original clothing and textiles inspired by nature created by Laurie Jacobi and Mary Jane Miller.
