Halloween in Andersonville


Halloween 2020 must be celebrated differently this year due to the pandemic, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t have some candy-filled fun. Also, WasteNot Compost wants you to compost that old, mushy pumpkin! Through November 30th, you may request a pumpkin pickup through their website!

Thursday, October 22 & October 27

TK Photography is offering Halloween Snapshots October 22 & 27  the perfect time to safely capture your kiddo in costume! TK Photography is partnering with Four Star Family Cyclery’s pop up pumpkin patch for three days of mini-sessions. Each session is $25 and comes with a small pumpkin, 1 digital image and access to an online digital gallery to purchase more photos. Click here to book your spot.

Reserve your pumpkin at Vincent today for Saturday, October 24 from 12:30-2PM. $30 gets you one pumpkin to carve, 2 Hot Buttered Whiskeys and snacks!

Wednesday, October 28 

Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest: An Urban Pooch Fun Virtual Event | October 28 from 6:30-8PM

Urban Pooch’s Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest has gone virtual this year! Join them online on Wednesday, October 28 from 6:30-8PM. Gus Giordano Dance School (Virtual Halloween Performance) | October 30: link will be emailed

Every Halloween, Gus Giordano Dance School celebrates on the streets of Andersonville with spooky renditions of Thriller, Monster Mash, and more. While this annual tradition looks a bit different this year, the GUS dancers will continue the tradition virtually with their free Halloween Show! Open Space Fall Festival | October 30 from 9AM-4PM

Come one, come all. It’s an Open Space Fall Festival! Open Space Early Learning Center is hosting their Fall Festival and open house on Friday, October 30 from 9AM to 4PM on the sidewalk outside of 4846 N Clark. Explore the sidewalk pumpkin patch, enjoy some delicious treats, vote for your favorite decorated pumpkin, and parade around in your spo0o0oky costume! Guests will learn about the school’s early learning programs for children 6 weeks to 5 years old, peek inside the classrooms, and meet the teachers!
Frightful Friday at ENJOY: An Urban General Store | October 30 at 10:30AM

Also on October 30, ENJOY: An Urban General Store, is excited to present Laura Doherty in a Frightful Friday Facebook Live Halloween Show at 10:30AM. This free concert will go live on the ENJOY Facebook page at Facebook.com/ENJOYChicago. Laura Doherty is a nationally touring children’s recording artist and award-winning producer with an ear for a catchy melody. She acoustically rocks your kid’s world with her breezy folk-pop tunes for the whole family! Saturday, October 31

Halloween on Catalpa | October 31 from 10AM-4PM

In lieu of trick-treating along the business district this year, we invite you to join us for a socially-distanced Trick-or-Treat Grab & Go experience on Catalpa Avenue on Saturday, October 31 from 10AM-4PM. Registration is now open for families to sign-up for the event. Much like our Farmers Market, attendees are asked to register for a 20 minute time slot. Please make sure to add a ticket for each person attending, including children. This allows us to safely limit the amount of people walking through. All attendees will receive free Halloween treats including bags of candy, taffy apples and gourds & pie pumpkins. Day of walk-ups will not be permitted.

Sunday, November 1

Halloween Karma Yoga Class | November 1 at 12PM

Practice 90 minutes of yoga over Zoom with all your favorite teachers at Be Yoga Andersonville in their best costumes on Sunday, November 1 at noon,. Yoga has so many benefits, not only for our physical well-being but mental and emotional health as well. The best way to experience these benefits is with a regular practice (at least 3x/week). Be sure to RSVP to the event page on Facebook.

40th Ward Halloween Costume and Haunted Home Contest

Get into the spirit of the season and enter the 40th Ward’s Halloween Costume and Haunted Home Contest for a chance to win gift card prizes supporting local businesses. Entries will be accepted through October 21, 2020. On October 26, the 40th Ward volunteer panel will reveal the finalists for each category for neighbors to vote on and pick a winner! Forever Yogurt Pumpkin Carving Contest | Winners drawn October 30
Forever Yogurt is having a Pumpkin Carving Contest for the month of October. Participants must carve their own pumpkin, post a picture of it on Instagram and tag Forever Yogurt with @froyo_on_clark. Then all you have to do is hit that follow button and cross your fingers. The winner will be chosen on Friday, October 30.

George’s Ice Cream and Sweets Candy Delivery System Invention Contest | October 22-October 31

Calling all inventors of all ages to enter our first, ever, George’s Ice Cream and Sweets Candy Delivery System Invention (CDSI) Contest!! Inventors will have two weeks to thaw your brain freezes and come up with a fun and creative way to deliver Candy for your door or window to an awaiting candy bucket. Winter Clothing Drive hosted by Honore Storage | October 12-October 31
Honore Storage is hosting a winter clothing drive benefiting Care For Real from October 12-October 31. Drop off new and used winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens in their lobby at 5147 N Clark. New socks, and toiletries are also needed. Winter Clothing Drive in partnership with Andersonville Chamber of Commerce to help Care for Real.
