The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1921 as the Uptown Clark Street Business Men's Association. When the neighborhood was re-christened in 1964, it was renamed the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, in support of the community's Swedish identity.

The Chamber's mission is to support and strengthen the uniqueness and vitality of the Andersonville business community. As one of the few urban neighborhoods in Chicago where small businesses predominate and thrive, Andersonville is a rare and exceptional place. The Chamber markets the neighborhood as a diverse urban community, where quaint cafés sit next to an assortment of tempting international restaurants and delightful specialty gift shops.

To that end, the Chamber offers an array of services to its members, including:

  • The Andersonville Neighborhood Guide & Map, which lists all Chamber businesses and their locations, distributed annually to 60,000 residents and visitors
  • Special events such as Midsommarfest, the summer street fair that draws nearly 50,000 visitors each year; Andersonville Arts Weekend; the Taste of Andersonville; shopping events such as the Summer Sidewalk Sale; and holiday events such as Late Night Andersonville, Julmarknad and the St. Lucia Festival of Lights
  • Networking opportunities at our twice annual membership meetings and semi-monthly networking events, as well as semi-monthly seminars on a variety of issues of concern to small business owners
  • Money saving opportunities with Chamber discounts through our Member-to-Member Discount Program

The Chamber also advocates on behalf of the Andersonville business community with city and state government on projects that affect the neighborhood, such as zoning, permitting, and property tax issues.
