Description

Join Mabel Benson DuPriest as she explores famous Swedish women writers throughout the last 100 years. We will learn about writers like Selma Lagerlöf, the first female writer ever to receive the prestigious Nobel Prize in literature; Astrid Lindgren, who is the author of the Pippi Longstocking series; Swedish poet and novelist Karin Boye, perhaps best known for her poem "Yes, of course it hurts." We will also learn about contemporary writers like Linda Olsson, author of “Astrid and Veronika,” and  Marianne Fredriksson, author of “Hanna’s Daughters.” Mabel Benson DuPriest has a Ph.D. in English, and is a professor in English at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. She is also a fantastic storyteller. Refreshments will be served. Cost: $12 members, $15 non-members. Reservations are recommended.
