What is the SSA?

The Andersonville SSA (Special Service Area) #22 is a funding tool used by the Andersonville community to maintain a clean, attractive, and competitive commercial district. The funding comes from a nominal tax levy on each commercial property within the SSA service area.

The boundaries of SSA #22 are Clark Street from Ainslie to Victoria and adjoining side streets up to the alleys.

The SSA supports the following programs:

• Sidewalk sweeping & trash pick up 4X/week

• Sidewalk pressure washing annually in the spring

• Planting, watering and maintenance of the streetscape planters. 4 plantings per year.

• Sidewalk snow removal from November 15 – April 15, when snowfall is 2” or more

• Facade Rebate Program and Green Building Incentive program

• Holiday marketing for Andersonville businesses

• Andersonville Neighborhood Guide

• Marketing of the Andersonville business district

• Andersonville holiday decorations

• Studies and planning

• Business attraction

• Environmental sustainability initiatives

Andersonville SSA #22 Reconstitution

Andersonville SSA #22’s initial ten-year term will expire at the end of 2012. In order to continue SSA programs and services, efforts are underway to reconstitute or extend the SSA for another 10-15 years. The SSA reconstitution advisory committee has met to create proposed budget, work plan, and tax cap for the new SSA. An explanation of the SSA and the proposal will be presented for review and feedback at these community meetings, open to the public:

The public will also have the opportunity to provide feedback at a public hearing at city council in the fall of 2012. All property owners within the SSA will be sent a notice in the mail about this hearing.
